Serie A side Lazio have threatened legal action to anyone accusing their midfielder Joseph Minala of being 41 years of age.

The Cameroonian player is currently playing youth football as a 18 year-old, but has been caught up in a storm after allegedly telling an African website he is in fact 41 years old.

While he appears older than 18, Lazio has vehemently denied he is ineligible for their youth side and threatened to take action on those who claim otherwise.

"We reserve the right to take action against those responsible for the protection of the good name of the company and the footballer,” statement read.

Minala has also released a statement through the club website to reaffirm he is still a teenager, and tweeted yesterday:

"Don't believe this bullshit I am 18 years old not 41, leave me alone."
