The 23-year-old forward has been a reported target for a number of established top-flight sides having impressed during his first year with the Cherries.

Wilson, who joined the club from Coventry 12 months ago, scored 20 goals as Eddie Howe led Bournemouth to promotion and will be an integral part of a team looking to defy the odds and survive in the Premier League.

"AFC Bournemouth has completed one of its most significant summer signings with Callum Wilson penning a new four-year contract," the club announced on their official website.

Wilson said he had no reason to look for a move away from the Vitality Stadium having achieved his ambition of reaching the Premier League.

"I signed thinking we would get to the Premier League in the next few years and we did it in the first season," he told Cherries Player.

"There's no reason, at this moment in time, why anyone would want to leave because we are in the Premier League and have a great manager, who is young and wants to be successful.

"We have a great squad here, so we have all the key components to be successful in the Premier League and hopefully we can achieve that.

"Playing in the Premier League is all I have ever dreamed of. You want to be on Match of the Day and play against the players you idolise. I'm more than happy here."

Keeping hold of Wilson would have been a priority for Howe as he looks to keep the nucleus of the team that won the Sky Bet Championship - although he has also been busy in the transfer market bringing in no less than seven new faces to date.

Two goalkeepers with Premier League experience have been added in Adam Federici and Artur Boruc, who spent last season on loan with the club, whilst Sylvain Distin, Joshua King and Tyrone Mings have all been signed - with Christian Atsu and Filippo Costa joining on season-long loan deals.
