Mario Balotelli irks some Liverpool fans with Raheem Sterling tweet
Mario Balotelli drew the ire of some Liverpool after sending a congratulatory tweet to Raheem Sterling after his goalscoring debut for Manchester City today.
The England forward, signed from Liverpool for £49million last week after an acrimonious transfer saga, found the net after just two minutes and 17 seconds against Roma at the vast Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The goal contributed to an entertaining contest in the Australian section of the International Champions Cup, which City went on to win 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at the end of 90 minutes.
Balotelli took to Twitter to send a message to his old team mate.
After a barrage of irate Liverpool fans responded to the tweet, Balotelli then added:
Liverpool fans are amazing but i hope@sterling31 will play at his best because he deserve it.He s a good guy young and talented.....— Mario Balotelli (@FinallyMario) July 21, 2015
