Manchester United prepare to off-load one of their outcasts in January
Manchester United are reported to be close to agreeing a deal to sell defender Matteo Darmian, with a January move now seemingly inevitable.
Widespread reports in his native Italy suggest Darmian is closing in on a move to join Inter Milan, after the Old Trafford club gave a green light to the sale of the 26-year-old full-back.
Darmian made 28 Premier League appearances for United last season after a move from Torino, but he whas not found a role in Jose Mourinho's set-up once he replaced Louis van Gaal as United manager last summer.
Mourinho likes his full-backs to show attacking intent, yet Darmian has struggled to display those qualities in his year at Old Trafford and he has made just one Europa League appearance for United so far this season.
United were willing to offload Italy international Darmian last summer, but a deal could not be struck with several interested Italian clubs.
Now it seems as if a move will be completed in January, with talks already reported to be at an advanced stage over a transfer that may be confirmed when the transfer window opens for business once again on January 1st.
