The prize is given by Tuttosport to the best young player under the age of 21, and the midfielder who helped Portugal to Euro 2016 glory has come out on top this year.

Louis van Gaal had been chasing Sanches' signature during his final days at Old Trafford, but the youngster instead opted to sign with Bavarian giants Bayern Munich.

The 19-year-old was announced as the winner by the Italian publication this morning.

United supporters can comfort themselves with the fact that Marcus Rashford was the runner up, while French winger Kingsley Coman finished third.
