New Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has been granted a work permit but logistics mean he may not be able to play in Friday's friendly at Tranmere.

A deal was agreed in January for the 20-year-old Serbia international but the Reds were only able to complete the formalities once the transfer window had officially opened.

Press Association Sport understands manager Jurgen Klopp attended a hearing at a Manchester hotel on Monday at which he gave testimony outlining his thoughts on the value of the player, whom Liverpool paid Red Star Belgrade £5.1million for before loaning him back for the second half of last season.

However, because of certain procedural rules - such as Grujic being required to leave the country and then re-enter - he may not feature at Prenton Park later this week in the Reds' first pre-season warm-up game.
