Les Bleus fans hope boss Domenech gets message
Saturday September 19 2009
AS France huff and puff their way towards securing a World Cup play-off spot, beleaguered coach Raymond Domenech gets more and more unpopular.
Apart from Les Bleus' poor results, which have left them four points behind Serbia with two games to play, Domenech just seems to rub people's noses the wrong way.
His post-match interviews in particular have become a bugbear for many French fans, who believe Monsieur Domenech tries to avoid the subject of the team's performances so that he can talk about himself.
Many will recall how, after France lost to Italy at Euro 2008, Domenech saw his post-match interview as an opportunity to ask his partner at the time to marry him.
After the recent draw with Serbia, Domenech claimed he had got over 200 text messages of support from friends and well-wishers. Now, one supporter, Johann Crochet, has set up a website so that fed-up fans can send their own messages of 'support'.
The 'Un SMS Pour Domenech' site has attracted tens of thousands of hits with over 4000 texts sent to the French boss -- the majority of them not exactly complimentary.
Among the more printable texts were: "Change your glasses or pluck your eyebrows if you're not seeing well," while another simply read: "Raymond, nobody likes you."
