Members of the Manchester City staff and a selection of travelling UK media were given a real scare as the plane they boarded to fly to Romania for the club's Champions league play-off tie was evacuated after the cabin was filled with smoke.
City take on Steaua Bucharest in their play-off tie on Tuesday night, with an emergency breaking out on board the plane shortly before its scheduled take-off on Monday morning.
Fire engines then rushed to attend the scene, with journalist Daniel Taylor offering up these updates of the incident on his Twitter account.
City manager Pep Guardiola and his squad were not involved in the drama as they travelled on a separate plane, with confirmation that Yaya Toure is not travelling with the squad fuelling the belief that he does not have a future at the club.
Not a great start to flight. Plane carrying Man City staff (not players) evacuated on runway amid shouts of 'leave your stuff, go, go, go'.— Daniel Taylor (@DTguardian) August 15, 2016

Toure joins Joe Hart on a high profile list of players who appear to be heading for the City exit door under Guardiola, with the 33-year-old always likely to make a move this summer after he clashed with the Spanish manager during their time together at Barcelona.
Toure has hinted that he was willing to stay with City despite Guardiola’s arrival, but it seems as if that decision may now have been taken out of his hands.
