Vinny Faherty’s third goal of the season 12 minutes from time gave Galway United a priceless three points in a 1-0 win over Bohemians at Eamonn Deacy Park.

In a game played in a strong gale, a scoreless 90 minutes looked on until Faherty stretched to poke home a splendid Pádraic Cunningham cross.

In a scoreless first half Cunningham saw a goal disallowed in the fourth minute for offside, while Bohemians came close to an opener through Ayman Ben Mohammed in the 20th minute, only for Conor Finn to save at his near post.

And in injury-time, Lorcan Fitzgerald had a great chance to steal a point, but his shot hit the side netting and the home side took a deserved victory.
