Unlucky 13 as Galway fall to clinical Pat's
Galway United 0 St Patrick's Athletic 2
Thirteen was the magic number at Terryland Park as St Patrick's Athletic stretched their unbeaten league run, while Galway United's harrowing sequence of defeats now stretches to that staggering figure.
Only seven minutes had elapsed when Galway's defence switched off, allowing the pacy Danny North to burst clear.
Galway 'keeper Greg Fleming did make a splendid save, but North reacted promptly to guide the rebound over the line.
The remainder of the first half followed a similar pattern to most of Galway's recent encounters: the opposition dominated as Evan McMillan, Anto Murphy, and Derek Doyle all went close.
Karl Moore, being monitored by Motherwell, offered a drop of skill on the left flank for Galway, who were reduced to 10 men in the 69th minute when Steve Feeney was given a harsh second yellow card following a foul on Paul Crowley.
Unsurprisingly the fizz went out of Galway and Pat's added a second on 72 minutes as Stephen Bradley's corner found McMillan, who thundered a header into the net.
