Tony Cousins hailed his Longford players after they held out to garner a point despite playing with 10 men for over 70 minutes.
Things looked bad for Longford when left-back Conor Powell was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Cillian Morrison.
However, in dreadfully wet conditions, they dug in and defended superbly, with goalkeeper Paul Skinner making several vital saves, the pick of them coming on 56 minutes when he tipped Mark Timlin's shot on to the crossbar.
"I thought we were absolutely magnificent," said Cousins. "The shape of the team and how well organised we were. To a man, they gave absolutely everything."
