Andy Mulligan came off the bench to put Wexford Youths into the quarter-finals with a stoppage-time winner at Ferrycarrig Park.
With the game looking set for a replay as it entered the 92nd minute, Mulligan latched onto fellow substitute Jonny Bonner’s pass to flick the ball past Micheal Schlingermann to the net.
Despite eight changes, Youths went ahead on 20 minutes. Aidan Keenan held the ball up well to set up midfielder Shane Dempsey, whose crisp strike from distance found the top corner.
Schlingermann then brilliantly denied Eoin Porter, whose shot on the turn was palmed away.
Four minutes later Sligo were level. Great feet and composure saw Raff Cretaro dribble across the face of the Youths goal before drilling low to the corner of Graham Doyle’s net.
But Mulligan had the last laugh for Youths.
