For the second time in a week, Cork City were far too strong for bottom side Longford Town as they comfortably picked up the points at Turner's Cross last night.
Having won at the City Calling Stadium last week in the FAI Cup, John Caulfield's side repeated the dose here to stay four points behind leaders Dundalk.
They were set on their way inside six minutes, Alan Bennett heading Kevin O'Connor's corner home before Sean Maguire doubled the lead on 13 minutes from Stephen Dooley's nice pass.
The chances continued to come for the Rebel Army, though Mark McNulty did have to be alert to tip over a Kealon Dillon chance at the other end.
On 26 minutes, Bennett was fouled by Peter McGlynn for a penalty, which Maguire converted. McGlynn did give Longford hope with a rocket of shot to the net after Eddie Dsane set him up, but four minutes into the second half City struck again, Karl Sheppard profiting from Maguire's lovely through ball.
Sheppard twice went close to adding a fifth, and sub Chiedozie Ogbene was unlucky to hit the post after a marauding run through the Longford defence.
McGlynn did get his second goal for Longford late on, but Sheppard responded with his second at the death.
