Premier Division team Longford Town were pushed all the way by plucky Cockhill Celtic, but Tony Cousins' side advanced to the last eight thanks to a brace of second-half goals.

Peter Doherty flashed a header just over as Cockhill dared to dream, but in the 68th minute their resistance was broken in agonising circumstances as Jimmy Bradley put the ball into his own net.

The Donegal side struck the post when a hopeful long-range effort by Benny McLaughlin crashed against Paul Hunt's goal-frame. Four minutes from time, Lorcan Shannon doubled the lead to send Longford into the quarter-finals.
