St Patrick's Athletic will take a giant step towards securing European qualification if they defeat Bohemians at Richmond Park tonight.

The Saints are third in the table, seven points clear of Shamrock Rovers, who host UCD.

While the Hoops have a game in hand, Saints skipper Ger O'Brien knows his side will be well in control if they collect the points in their fourth-last fixture.

"Three points would nearly secure a top-three finish and get the club back into Europe next year," says O'Brien.

"That's a target we have as a group, to get back into Europe, as we know how much that means to the fans.

"And for us, as players, it's what we want every year."

Pat's and Rovers will both be assured of Europe if they register home wins in their respective FAI Cup semi-finals against Finn Harps and Derry on Sunday.
