Rosenborg have parted company with manager Per Joar Hansen following a disappointing start to the season which included a shock defeat at home to Sligo Rovers.
The league of Ireland side will take a 2-1 lead into the second leg of their Europa League qualifying tie following an unexpected away success to compound a sluggish start to the domestic season.
Hansen’s final game in charge was a 1-0 victory over Sogndal, but the club currently sit in fourth position in the league, nine points adrift of table-toppers Molde.
“The club has not been satisfied with the results or performance development, and sees that it is necessary to make changes to achieve this,” a statement on the club website read.
“The Board recognises that the sporting efforts have not worked optimally and will continue to work on defining the organization and functions of the athletic department. We are prepared to spend time on this.”
Rosenborg will travel to the Showgrounds for Thursday’s return leg against Rovers.
