ST PAT'S kept their title chances alive at Richmond Park as two goals each from Danny North and Sean O'Connor, as well as strikes from Stephen Bradley and Paul Crowley, saw off helpless Galway United who had more staff than substitutes on the bench.

Having lost 21 matches in a row and playing against a Saints side looking to make it 19 home games in succession without defeat, the last thing Sean Connor's crew wanted was to concede an early goal, but that's exactly what they did.

North and Daryl Kavanagh combined to set up O'Connor, who slotted the ball past Conor Winn after just 90 seconds.

Man of the Match Bradley added the second from the penalty spot on 14 minutes after Alan Murphy was somewhat harshly penalised when Derek Doyle's effort struck his hand.

Further goals from North and O'Connor had St Pat's four up at the break. North (76) and sub Crowley (85) added to Galway's misery before Paul Sinnott grabbed a consolation.

ST PAT'S ATH -- Rogers; Pender, Bermingham, E McMillan, Kenna, OConnor, Doyle (Stuart, 45), McFaul, Bradley (Crowley 78), Kavanagh (D McMillan, 45), North.
