Harry Monaghan and Nathan Boyle got the goals to secure Derry's third win over Bohemians this season which books their place in the last eight of the FAI Cup.

The Candystripes took the lead in the 38th minute. Lucas Schubert's free-kick was headed towards goal and Monaghan pounced to finish first-time from inside the six yard box.

The hosts should have been in front through Stephen Best's header, but failed to create many real chances and missed striker Izzy Akinade hugely.

Derry should have hit the front after 17 minutes but Dean Delany saved a low Ronan Curtis shot.

Bohs responded when Derek Pender's cross was deflected onto the woodwork via the foot of Derry defender Cristian Castells.

Bohs manager Keith Long would have reminded his team at half-time about their dramatic come-back against Sligo on Monday, but less than three minutes after the restart, they were 2-0 behind.

Boyle doubled Derry's tally via the inside of the far post to secure their passage to the next round after a clever pass from Schubert.

Eoin Wearen's effort in the 89th minute could have led to a nervy finish for Kenny Shiels, but his shot from Daniel Byrne's ball hit the post and bounced into Ger Doherty's hands.
