On a night when Finn Harps said farewell to Kevin McHugh, Ryan Curran's goal gave the Donegal side an end-of-season win over Bohemians.

It was a goal out of nothing, the Derryman turning on the edge of the box and firing high past Dean Delany.

The goal caught everyone, especially Delany, by surprise and, if anything, it was a throwback to the days when the man vacating the number 10 shirt was at his peak.

McHugh, after 438 appearances and 186 goals, has retired from senior football following a freak accident that severed a finger.

He took the acclaim of Finn Park on a week when Harps - promoted via the play-off last season - secured their place in the 2017 Premier Division.

Curran's goal was enough for the win, with Harps surviving scares when Kurtis Byrne drove over and Mark Quigley volleyed just past the target, while Quigley's glancing header was kept out by Richard Brush.

The Harps goalkeeper had also saved well in the first half from Derek Prendergast on a night in Donegal that was all about one man taking a final ovation from his people.
