King calls on Sheppard

SHAMROCK ROVERS striker Karl Sheppard has been included in Ireland's U-21 squad for next Monday's European Championship qualifier against Liechtenstein at the Showgrounds.

Sheppard, who had a spell with Everton, has had an excellent season with the Hoops, scoring 10 league goals as Michael O'Neill's men retained the league title.

Former Dundalk winger Daniel Kearns has also won a call-up, while Sligo Rovers' Aaron Greene keeps his place.

Manager Noel King has largely stuck with the squad that secured a 4-1 victory against the same opponents last month, when James Collins hit a hat-trick and Shane Duffy added the other.
