Galway United have confirmed the appointment of Shane Keegan as their new manager after a dramatic 72 hours for the Laois native

Keegan was in charge of the Wexford Youths side that suffered relegation on Friday after a 3-0 second leg defeat in their promotion/relegation playoff with Drogheda United cancelled out their two-goal advantage from the first leg.

The 34-year-old travelled to Galway on Saturday to formally agree a two-year deal and the move went through .

"I have always seen Galway as a fantastic club with massive potential," said Keegan yesterday. " Having met with the chairman and board, it was exciting to hear the plans they have for the club and I am delighted to be given the opportunity to have a role in driving those plans forward."
