Shamrock Rovers boss Pat Fenlon says that only three points in Dundalk tomorrow will keep his side in the title race.

The Hoops remain 12 points off the leaders after managing just a draw at Sligo Rovers on Saturday.

Fenlon said: "If we have any aspirations of catching them we have got to win up there. It will be very difficult, but we are capable of doing it if we play to our potential. They are a good side, but we will go there to try and win the game."

Fenlon was able to hand a full debut to Damien Duff on Saturday in Sligo, and he is hopeful that the former Irish international can play a big part in the run-in.

"With Mikey Drennan suspended, we wanted to get him in the team, and hopefully that run-out will stand to him in the weeks coming," said Fenlon.

"We thought we would get 65 or 70 minutes out of him, but we got a little bit more than that. He felt good so it is about recovering now and getting ready for Tuesday."

Gary McCabe got the Hoops' equaliser at the weekend from a second half free-kick after Estonian international Sander Puri had headed the hosts in front on 29 minutes.

Sligo - Brush, Boylan, Peers, Keane, Donelon, Cretaro (Nielsen 71), Hughes, Cawley, Russell (Ward 87), Puri, Corcoran (Elding 71).

Shamrock - Murphy, Madden, Kenna, Webster, Byrne, G Brennan, McCabe, Blanchard (Cregg 60), Miele, Duff (McCaffrey 78), North (R Brennan 82).
