Holders Dundalk away to UCC while Cork to host Pat's in EA Sports quarter-finals
EA Sports Cup holders Dundalk will travel to UCC after the quarter-final draw was made today by FAI Competitions Director Fran Gavin and High Performance Director Ruud Dokter.
The students have already beaten two SSE Airtricity League sides – Wexford Youths and Cobh Ramblers – on their way to the last eight and will face their toughest task yet against the reigning champions.
Last season’s runners-up Shamrock Rovers, who are bidding to reach a fourth successive final, are away to Derry City, who are seeking to win the competition for a record 11th time.
Cork City, who last won the competition in the 1998-99 season, have been drawn at home to St Patrick’s Athletic while Galway United will have home advantage against Bohemians, who previously lifted the trophy in 2009.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for Monday, May 18, and Tuesday, May 19, and will be played to a finish on the night with provision for extra-time and penalties. The fixtures schedule will be announced in due course.
