Heary hails Peers 'steel'
Sligo Rovers 2 Drogheda United 0
Owen Heary has praised his man of steel for helping Sligo Rovers finally claim their first home league win of the season on Saturday.
Striker Dinny Corcoran scored twice as the Bit O'Red beat Drogheda, but Heary reserved his praise for centre-back Gavin Peers, who return to the starting line-up having missed the last six games through injury.
Heary said: "Peersy came back and marshalled the defence. He was excellent, winning his headers and playing it out when he could.
"The younger players have done very well for us in his absence, but he gives us an added steel that we have probably been missing over the last few weeks. It was the most experienced team we've had all year."
Rovers were ahead inside three minutes, with Corcoran controlling David Cawley's pass before finishing calmly past one-time Rovers keeper Micheal Schlingermann.
His second was a header from Danny Ledwith's pinpoint cross just before the break.
