Ollie Horgan wasn't getting ahead of himself after Ryan Curran's 57th minute goal from the penalty spot fired Finn Harps to victory over Longford Town.
Curran stepped up to score from the spot after Ethan Boyle was fouled by Daniel O'Reilly.
It was no more than the home team deserved, with Curran having been denied by Jamie Mulhall's goal-line clearance in the first half.
Harps had a host of chances and Dave Scully and Adam Hanlon also went close before Curran finally put them ahead.
However, by the end, they were hanging on for dear life and Kealon Dillon went close to equalising.
"We have three valuable points but we were very lucky to get them against a weakened Longford side," Harps boss Horgan said.
"We just do our best to be competitive. It's relentless and there is just no give in it."
