Shelbourne's bid for promotion to the Airtricity Premier Division has been boosted by the addition of a former Premier League striker.
Stephen Elliott played a season in the top flight under Mick McCarthy at Sunderland and also won nine caps for Ireland, scoring one goal.
He has also played for Wolves, Preston, Norwich, Hearts and Coventry and will now link up with Shelbourne after a period of training with Shamrock Rovers.
The signing of Elliott is subject to international clearance, according to a statement released by the club.
Shelbourne are currently in sixth in the table, 11 points behind top side Limerick.
