SPORTING Fingal inched closer to a place in next year's Europa League with a deserved victory over 10-man Dundalk at Oriel Park last night.
The visitors were pinned back in the opening half hour with Fahrudin Kuduzovic and Stephen Maher both having efforts cleared off the line but they pulled ahead against the run of play in the 32nd minute.
Conan Byrne's corner found Glen Crowe unmarked at the back post and his header back across goal was turned home by Shaun Williams. Fingal increased their lead 10 minutes into the second-half. Gary O'Neill latched on to a long ball before laying the ball off for Ronan Finn to drive home from 25 yards.
Referee Derek Tomney then took centre stage by dismissing two players. Ross Gaynor received his marching orders in the 58th minute before Fingal's Ger O'Brien followed 10 minutes later.
