Fenlon hails young guns
Bohemians 2 UCD 0
GOALS from Christy Fagan and Keith Buckley gave Bohemians victory over UCD in front of just 667 fans at Dalymount Park.
On a more positive note for the Gypsies, five of their starting 11 were under the age of 22 and manager Pat Fenlon was full of praise for his youngsters afterwards.
"We passed the ball crisply and our movement was good. The only thing that was missing was a few more goals," Fenlon said.
"No matter how well we play, we never seem to turn our superiority into goals and give ourselves a bit of a breather, but it was a good performance."
The opener came in the 23rd minute when UCD right-back Hugh Douglas' cross-field pass put David O'Connor in trouble. The nippy Buckley then robbed the ball and played in Fagan, who calmly slotted it past past Mark McGinley for his 13th goal of the season.
But it took Bohs until the 89th minute to score again, Buckley latching on to a pass from Stephen Traynor to finish well.
And the Gypsies fluffed the chance to add a third when substitute Anto Flood blazed a 93rd-minute penalty over the crossbar after Danny Ledwith had fouled Ger O'Brien.
