Reigning Airtricity League champions St. Pats were put to the sword by Dundalk at Richmond Park tonight as the visitors ran out 4-1 winners.
Four sublime strikes earned Dundalk all three points in their clash with helped claim got partial revenge over their opponents for last year’s title race.
The Inchicore outfit had taken the lead in the first half somewhat against the run of play when Chris Forrester pounced on some poor control from Brian Gartland, but four stunning strikes saw the visitors leave the capital with a fully-deserved three points.
First John Mooney’s low free-kick found the net, before Daryl Horgan, David McMillan and Sean Gannon also got in on the scoring act as St. Pats finished with 10 men after Greg Bolger then saw a straight red for the champions for a lunge on Andy Boyle.
