Late goals from Danny Morrissey and Kenny Browne ensured that Cork City kept pace with Dundalk as they denied Derry at Turner's Cross.

For much of the second half, it looked like Niclas Vemmelund's 56th-minute goal would give the Derry their third win over the Rebel Army this season, moving them joint-second alongside John Caulfield's side in the process.

However, the home side kept pressing - they enjoyed the better of the play throughout - and Morrissey levelled when he stooped to head home Greg Bolger's free kick on 86 minutes. Shouted on by the home support in a crowd of 2,856, they searched for a winner and it came in the first of five injury-time minutes.

Again, Bolger was the provider, sending over a corner from the left and Browne got his head to it before goalkeeper Ger Doherty, sending the fans wild.

Cork played well in the first half but couldn't test Doherty sufficiently while Ryan McBride was excellent for Derry. Vemmelund had Derry's best chance of the first half and he opened the scoring on 56 minutes from Barry McNamee's corner. It rocked the home team, but they responded in style.
