The Cork public is expected to turn out in droves for the first leg of their youths' meeting with the top underage team in Italy.

Cork's defeat of HJK Helsinki in their first ever game at this level captured the imagination. "We've had people from all over the country onto us," says manager Stephen Bermingham. "We are under no illusions about how tough it will be but we'll have a great crowd behind us."

Meanwhile, Shamrock Rovers have appointed Stephen McPhail as their Sporting Director just weeks after his retirement from playing. The new role will see the ex-Leeds player function as a link between the first team and academy. Rovers say he will have an input in the appointment of their new full-time manager.
