The League of Ireland's leading goal scorer, Sean Maguire, will join the Irish revolution at Preston North End at the end of July.

The in-form front man, who bagged a hat-trick in front of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill and his assistant Roy Keane as Cork beat champions Dundalk in Oriel Park last night, has scored 19 goals in 20 appearances for the runaway leaders this season.

"The striker has agreed a three-year deal from next month after both clubs agreed an appropriate but undisclosed compensation package," read a Cork statement.

"Maguire has scored 19 goals in 20 appearances so far this campaign and will continue to be available for selection for John Caulfield’s side until his departure date at the end of July when he has completed his move."

Maguire will join Daryl Horgan, Andy Boyle, Alan Browne and Greg Cunningham in Simon Grayson's squad while Eoin Doyle remains on loan at Portsmouth.

The deal allows Maguire to play with the Leesiders in the early stages of the Europa League and his goals could prove vital to Cork's bank balance with progression from each round worth €200k.
