Wexford Youths defender Ryan Delaney has joined Championship side Burton Albion and it appears that his new manager has a low opinion of the league that his new man has arrived from.
Burton boss Nigel Clough - son of the legendary Brian Clough - gave an interview to the club website today where he explained why he decided to bring in Delaney.
The versatile defender impressed during a trial with the Championship side, despite the fact that Clough doesn't think he has yet played at a 'decent level'.
“He can play left back or left centre half," Clough told the club website.
"He’s only 19 and hasn’t yet played at a decent level but he does a lot of things naturally. He has not been in full-time training which means he’s been blowing a bit in the last 20 minutes of games but we think we can get him up to speed.”
