(Drogheda win 8-2 on agg)

AN impressive performance saw Drogheda United progress with ease at Shamrock Park.

Goals from Alan Byrne, Paul O'Connor, Gavin Brennan, David Cassidy and Philip Hand secured a 5-0 victory on the night and an 8-2 win on aggregate.

The visitors were ahead within the first minute as Alan Byrne turned home Eric Foley's corner and it was soon two as Gary O'Neill rolled through a beautiful slide-rule pass for O'Connor to fire past David Miskelly. Gavin Brennan scored Drogheda's third within ten minutes of the restart, sidefooting home.

The fourth goal was a great move from left to right with Brennan at the fore.

He fired over a great cross to find Peter Hynes at the back post and he headed back across goal for fellow substitute David Cassidy to head home.

The final goal arrived in stoppage time as Hand fired home with a Cassidy assist.
