Dublin City Council have acquired the property for €3.8 million and have undertaken to redevelop and maintain the iconic stadium as a major sports, cultural and community amenity after the move was endorsed by an Extraordinary General Meeting at Bohemians this evening.

The deal will allow Bohemians to clear its debt and continue to play at the iconic venue for the foreseeable future

“This is a good deal for Bohemians and for the city of Dublin,” said club president Matt Devaney.

“We can clear all our major debts and can commit fully to realising our ambitions in football and in the community. The city now owns a major, and historic, sporting facility close to the centre and can provide public amenities, as well as a long-term home for Bohemian FC, Dublin’s oldest football club.

“Bohemians want to thank the city officials, public representatives, the FAI, the local residents and community groups and the many friends of the club who contributed to securing this agreement. We also thank the members and fans for their patience. It has been a long road but one that opens a bright future.”
