Amond on mark to haunt Hoops

Two superb finishes by former Hoops striker Padraig Amond dumped his former club out of the competition and earned Sligo a place in the final.

The league's top scorer took his tally to 23 in all competitions this season with a brace in front of over 2,000 at the Showgrounds.

Amond rattled home the equaliser just 30 seconds after Sligo 'keeper John Gibson caught Gary Twigg's hopeful lob behind the line. And he produced the winner just four minutes after the restart, when he raced onto Eoin Doyle's slick pass to score.
