LEAGUE of ireland PREVIEWS

Published 23/04/2010 | 05:00

St Pat's Ath v Sligo Rovers

  • Go To

(Richmond Park, LIVE RTE2, 7.35)

League form: Sligo WDDDW St Pat's DDDLW.

Betting: St Pat's 10/11 Sligo Rovers 3/1 Draw 9/4.

Referee: A Kelly (Cork).

Team News: Pete Mahon will have a full squad to choose from, as will the visitors after Joseph Ndo received international clearance, opening the door for a debut against his former club tonight.

Talking Point: The early pace-setters versus the only team left in the Premier Division boasting an unbeaten record, even if Sligo have only won two of their seven games and drawn the rest. St Pat's came out on top in their recent Setanta Cup semi-final so they will have the upper hand psychologically.

Verdict: Draw.

Dundalk v Bohemians

(Oriel Park, 7.45)

League form: Dundalk DDWLW Bohemians WDDLL.

Betting: Dundalk 21/10 Bohemians 5/4 Draw 3/1.

Referee: D McKeon (Meath).

Team News: Alan Cawley (cheekbone) is still out but Tiarnan Mulvenna could make a first appearance in six months after recovering from a knee injury. Ken Oman and Raffaele Cretaro are suspended for Bohs.

Talking Point: More often than not, these encounters were fiery when these two sides clashed last season and even if the Sean Connor factor is gone, the home crowd will be well up for this -- especially given their current league position.

Verdict: Away win.

Galway UTD v Drogheda UTD

(Terryland Park, 7.45)

League form: Galway LDDWL Drogheda LDDWL.

Betting: Galway 21/20 Drogheda 5/2 Draw 11/5.

Referee: T Connolly (Dublin).

Team News: The Tribesmen will be without Gary Curran (knee) and Thomas Heary (knee) for this encounter. Robbie Martin, Paul Crowley, Jamie Harris, Eoghan Osborne and Glen Fitzpatrick will all undergo late fitness tests for the away side.

Talking Point: Two points separate these sides in the bottom half of the table and they are unlikely to be too far apart at the end of the season either, so this is a big clash for both teams as they attempt to shift away from the foot of the table.

Verdict: Draw.

Shamrock Rvs v Bray WDrS

(Tallaght Stadium, 8.0)

League form: Shamrock Rvs WDDWW Bray LLDLL.

Betting: Shamrock Rvs 1/3 Bray 9/1 Draw 10/3.

Referee: R Winter (Dublin).

Team News: Pat Sullivan, Craig Sives, Dessie Baker, Stephen Bradley and Don Cowan all remain out for Rovers, while Robert Bayly and Sean O'Connor are doubts. Colm Tresson, Richie Baker and Stephen Brennan (all hamstring) and Shane O'Neill (hip) are out for Bray.

Talking Point: Bray are already looking like such a lost cause that most Hoops fans will probably be more occupied with predicting how many goals they will put past the winless Wicklow side, rather than whether or not they will emerge with full points.

Verdict: Home win.
