With the Irish rugby team on course to be involved in a World Cup quarter-final at 6.0 the following morning, fans of both sports won't be getting too much sleep.

The vagaries of the time difference between here and Russia mean that Ireland's final qualifier against Armenia at the Aviva Stadium the following Tuesday (October 11) will kick off an hour earlier than usual -- at 6.45.

Under UEFA regulations, all matches in each group must commence at the same time on the last day of the campaign.

Russia's match against Andorra in Moscow will kick-off at 9.45 local time, while Slovakia's clash with Macedonia in Skopje will get under way at 7.45.

Wolves defender Kevin Foley -- who can also offer midfield cover -- looks set to miss out on the double-header with an ankle injury.

Foley's problem has boosted Dublin teenager Matt Doherty's prospects of furthering his first-team education at Molineux.

Doherty made a good impression after coming on at the start of the second half against Liverpool at Anfield last Saturday and he could make his first Premier League start against Newcastle on Saturday, with Richard Stearman also struggling.

However, the 19-year-old has missed out on promotion to Ireland U-21 squad for the Euro qualifier against Liechenstein on October 11.

Senior international Greg Cunningham returns from injury to take his place in the panel and Crystal Palace's Sean Scannell is also available again.

Exciting Derby youngster Jeff Hendrick -- who has been in goalscoring form in the Championship -- has been named in Noel King's panel.
