Harry Kenny was happy to win ugly at the City Calling Stadium to keep Bray Wanderers on the up.

While it's now one defeat in 12 league games for Bray, Longford are without a victory in 25 matches since the opening night of he season and they remain eight points adrift at the foot of the Premier Division table.

A poor first half sparked into life on 41 minutes when Bray took the lead.

Dylan Connolly's header from a Kevin Lynch cross come back off the crossbar and Ger Pender pounced on the rebound to score for the second match on the spin.

Darragh Noone sealed Bray's win on 87 minutes, drilling the ball home after Town goalkeeper Ryan Coulter had parried Connolly's effort.

"We ground it out more so than a good performance," said Kenny.

"We had a good performance in Inchicore last Tuesday, but this was a different type of game altogether. There was plenty of blocking and defending and not too much football in the game.

"There wasn't a whole lot of creativity or passing in the game. But when the chances came along we took them.

"It just showed that we can do both sides of it, which I was delighted about. I was happy to win ugly."
