Keegan scores winner as Galway squeeze through

Galway United 1 North End United 0

Jake Keegan struck the only goal as Galway United squeezed past North End United at Eamonn Deacy Park.

The Wexford side battled heroically but rarely threatened the Galway goal apart from a late chance for Paul Murphy.

Keegan's fourth-minute goal was a rare high point of a poor first half. Ryan Connolly played the American in down the left and he beat goalkeeper Lee Walker with an audacious effort from a tricky angle.

Jason Molloy then hit the outside of the post from Connolly's delightful ball.

After the break, Enda Curran blazed wide, and Galway were then grateful to some alert defending from Stephen Walsh, who cleared off the line from Jason Murphy.
