Keane backs Trap to extend Ireland reign
ROBBIE Keane has backed Giovanni Trapattoni to remain as Ireland manager and lead the team in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, WRITES RUAIDHRI O'CONNOR.
The Italian's contract is up next year and the FAI have yet to offer him a new deal ahead of next month's key Euro qualifying matches against Slovakia and Russia. But the players have been rowing in behind their manager this week, with Keane becoming the latest to back the boss.
"Oh yeah," the skipper replied when asked if Trapattoni should stay in charge. "It's clear to see the job he has done since he has come into the set-up.
"He is building a good squad, every player goes on to the pitch knowing exactly what he has to do. It's been a massive improvement in the last few years."
