Jack Wilshere must make 'big decision about his mates', warns Arsenal legend Ian Wright
Jack Wilshere should consider altering his relationship with his friends, says Arsenal legend Ian Wright.
The advice comes after the England international was recently filmed being questioned by police over an "altercation" at a West End nightclub.
Wilshere has denied any allegations of assault, however the late night incident outside Cafe de Paris has led to some questions about Wilshere's attitude and mentality.
Writing for The Sun, Wright had some practical advice for the 24-year-old.
"The Arsenal midfielder has some big, big decisions to make — starting with his mates," wrote Wright.
"Jack has got to look very, very closely at who he surrounds himself with after making headlines of the wrong sort this week
"I am not suggesting for one second he suddenly bins all his pals. I wouldn’t say that at all.
"When you get to a certain level, though, the goalposts shift a bit. Yes, you can still see all those old mates but it doesn’t have to be in a bar or a nightclub."
Despite Wright's concerns, he believes that the midfielder could still have a season to remember now he is on the verge of making a first appearance this season.
"He could yet be part of an Arsenal team which needs to win every game to stand the slightest chance of winning the Premier League title," Wright suggested.
"He also has every chance of forcing his way into Roy Hodgson’s squad and playing a huge part for England at the Euros this summer."
Wilshere is expected to appear for Arsenal Under-21s against Newcastle this Friday as he closes in on a return to action.
