THE FAI last night warned all fans in Sicily that they face a new menace from the high rate of street crime.
As the thousands of fans switched their focus from Sardinia to Italia 90's most southerly venue, there were renewed warnings from the organisers to take care.
"Having overcome the threat from English hooligans, we now must warn fans that Palermo suffers from a very high crime rate.
“Irish fans must become safety conscious from the word go to ensure their fun is not spoiled," FAI security director Joe Delaney said last night.
