Irish five-a-side team got to play against Paul Scholes at the weekend

The Irish five-a-side team made it all the way to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Thailand over the weekend before cruelly bowing out to Japan on penalties.

But there was an extra bonus for the team representing Ireland when four of the squad were selected to play an exhibition match against Manchester United legend Paul Scholes and former Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado.

Ireland were represented in the tournament by Transylvania FC who won the Irish five-a-side title, ran by inter7s.com, to qualify for the World Cup.

After a brilliant run in the finals in Bangkok where Ireland beat Malaysia and Holland to make it to the last four, they suffered heart break when they bowed out on spot kicks against Japan.
