Ireland stalwart Dunne to miss crucial qualifiers

VETERAN defender Richard Dunne will miss the Republic of Ireland’s crucial Group C World Cup qualifiers with Sweden and Austria.

Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni confirmed today that the Aston Villa defender won't make the double header at the end of this month.

The announcement will not come as a major surprise as Dunne -  who is suffering from a troublesome groin injury - has not played all season.

He had hoped to return to the Villa first team in January but suffered a setback.

Trapattoni confirmed that Everton's Seamus Coleman and Stoke's Marc Wilson, who missed the recent friendly against Poland through injury, will be named in the squad tomorrow.
