Liverpool target Mario Gotze was in stunning form last night as he helped Germany cruise to a 4-1 victory over Italy.

Gotze, 23, who has found it increasingly difficult to get regular game time under Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich, remains a pivotal component of Joachim Low’s German outfit.

After all, he did come off the bench to score the decisive goal in the 2014 World Cup final against Argentina.

At the Allianz Arena against the Azzurri the former Borussia Dortmund attacker showed exactly why his international manager maintains a strong faith in him. And, if reports are to be believed, why Jurgen Klopp is anxious to reunite with Gotze by bringing him to Anfield this summer.

Not only did Gotze account for Germany’s second goal with a headed finish but also showcased some of the refined skills he possesses.

No more so than when completely taking Italian Leonardo Bonucci out of the game with his sublime touch.
