Nicklas Bendtner and that miss against Turkey
Nicklas Bendtner and that miss against Turkey

Before bringing in Danny Welbeck on deadline day, such was the desperation at Arsenal that there was talk they should never allowed Nicklas Bendtner to leave to join Wolfsburg on a free.

This shocking miss for Denmark in their 2-1 defeat by Turkey last night, however, shows that Arsene Wenger was right to make the call.

Bentdner has made one appearance for Wolfsburg since his move, coming on as a 69th-minute substitute in a 2-2 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt last Saturday.

After a flowing move, Spurs' playmaker Christian Eriksen dinked the ball through to Bendtner, and while the ball was slightly behind him, the striker's incredibly tame flick resulted him falling to the floor four yards from goal.

What was he thinking?

Which was more embarrassing?
