Martin O'Neill has cut seven players from his initial squad for the upcoming friendlies against Switzerland (March 25) and Slovakia (March 29) at the Aviva Stadium.

The seven players to miss out are Kieran Westwood, Simon Cox, Anthony Stokes, Chris Forrester, Paul Green, Greg Cunningham and Darron Gibson.

The decision means that the quartet of Matt Doherty, Eunan O'Kane, Jonathan Hayes and Alan Judge are in line to make their Republic of Ireland debuts.

Stephen Gleeson could feature in a green short for the first time in nine years while Jack Byrne will train with the senior squad this week.
