Jason McAteer emphatically shuts down Twitter 'nuggets' who slag off Robbie Keane

On the day of Robbie Keane's international retirement, it is right and proper for people to look back at some of the striker's highlights in green.

The man himself singled out firing the ball past Oliver Kahn at the 2002 World Cup as his greatest international memory, which was just one of the 67 goals he has scored for Ireland during his 18-year stint playing with his country.

However, there are other people who don't regard Keane as highly as fans in Ireland. Keane's former team-mate, Jason McAteer, has been dealing with them on social media throughout the day.

The former midfielder tweeted a tribute to the 'world class' Keane earlier, which prompted some choice responses from a few fans.

McAteer was blunt when emphatically stating the credentials of both Robbie Keane, and the Ireland team in which they both played in.
