Harry Arter and Wes Hoolahan will both start in today's crunch World Cup qualifier in Vienna.

Arter is set to make his first competitive international appearance in the absence of the injured James McCarthy.

Jon Walters starts up front, and Robbie Brady drops to left back to replace the unavailable Stephen Ward.

Dundalk's Daryl Horgan was able to secure a place on the bench but team-mate Andy Boyle misses out.

Ireland are currently second in Group D, only trailing Serbia on goal difference. Even a point tonight would put Martin O'Neill's side in a strong position heading into the new year with a series of key home fixtures to come.

Ireland take on Austria at 5pm in Vienna.
